'Ben Fearnside: Metal on Canvas' runs from the 1st -14th of May for the Brighton Festival Fringe. But it's about more than art.
Having an exhibition in a festival isn’t just about selling paintings. It’s about coming out of the studio, starting conversations, connecting with the community. What better way to do that than by promoting a local charity I care about?
The Sussex Beacon
The Sussex Beacon has been providing specialist support and care for people living with HIV since 1992. It has its own in-care/ out-patient facility and lovely gardens at the top of Bear Road hill, overlooking the city and sea. What it does is unique. But recently it has lost critical funding and further cuts seem likely in the future.
Someone close to me lives with HIV and the Sussex Beacon helped her at a very dark time. My paintings are about light, which seems fitting for The Beacon!”

The Auction
I’m auctioning one painting and all funds raised will go to The Beacon. Place a bid and you could be the proud owner of an original framed abstract in metals.
To place a bid in the Metal on Canvas art auction:
1) Come to Gallery 40 any time during exhibition opening-hours
2) Write your bid in a sealed envelope.
Envelopes will be opened and the winner announced on Saturday 13th at 6pm.
We’ll be taking bids right down to the wire, so come on down. It’ll be like ebay but better because there will be a prize for coming second!
I’m not going to announce which painting will be in the auction. You’ll have to come to the gallery to find out. It could be any of the ones on my LAST WORKS page… or something so new I haven’t even painted it yet.
Please support the auction, support The Sussex Beacon and bid generously!
